Research

We have worked on various research topics in this short time, which helps us to play an effective role in the context of Bangladesh. We may still be far from our original goal, but we are hopeful that we will one day achieve this milestone. Below is a summary of the research projects we have done so far.

Commercial Waterfront Regeneration

This research project reasoned the evolution and declination of commercial waterfronts in different cities of the Bengal Delta South region and provided guidelines on how to regenerate these declined waterfronts in a sustainable approach and establish a public realm. Along with this Khulna Barobazar has been intensively surveyed and detailed analyzed, and research work has been carried out on the basis of the structure of Khulna Barobazar, as it is currently at its most preserved and complete state compared to other declined commercial waterfront.

Renovation of Public Housing in Bangladesh

In this research, we have analyzed the historical evolution and transformation of public housing in Bangladesh and detailed the application of vernacular and contextual elements in low-rise public housing. In the case of high-rise public housing, how to integrate these vernacular and contextual elements, neighboring ideas, and sustainable adaptability concepts, to ensure better environmental, living, and community quality, we have determined the regulations and means.

Post-Covid Health Space Regeneration

This research project examines post-Covid health space design issues such as how to create resilient spaces with a focus on airborne nanoparticles and microfluidic components, how to modify air ventilation systems, and most importantly, what modifications to spatial configuration and FEM simulation approaches to determine the impact and solutions should be made.

Architectural Landscape & Public Space Transformation

In order to conduct comparative data analysis, this project has conducted surveys, maps, and BIM-based spatial, energy, and functional virtual computer simulations of public landscape architecture of various types and ages. Future landscape architects and urban designers will benefit from these crucial standards for energy- and function-based landscape planning in public space and design.

Sustainable Urban Drainage System

This research project shows how the hydrological cycle of Khulna and Dhaka changed from past to present, and how the river basins that were functioning as river basins disappeared. Besides, destruction of KDA 1964 plan in case of Khulna, creation of Rupsa, new water plant issue, elimination of underground drainage, reduction of groundwater flow due to Sundarbans, and new urban drainage policy for Khulna and Dhaka as per IUWM and SUDS policy- and our recommendations and changes- (Water Table and drainage design, sub-surface drainage recovery and its effects, maintaining the hydrological cycle, surface water flow planning, groundwater recharge planning, minimum risk drinking water harvesting, water basin and wetland planning.

Sustainable Adaptability & Vernacularity of Bangladesh

This research project shows how the contextual vernacularism of Bangladesh can provide guidance for designing sustainable and adaptable living spaces. Architecture that has been practiced in Bangladesh for thousands of years, which is in a state of practical stability, is merged with contemporary sustainable living achievements, and efficient and better results are obtained.

Historical Computation of Bengal Heritage

This research project describes the proportional system, construction techniques, and material selection in Bengal heritage architecture. Also with the help of photogrammetry, we have done detailed analysis of spatial configuration and physical elements.

Space Design for Old Age People of Bangladesh

Anthropometrics, circulatory flow, accessibility, and comfort are some fundamental principles and characteristics of ergonomic environments. Based on the precise limitations and criteria on how to construct these entities in a senior citizen-friendly manner, this research study does computational generative analysis using the described computer techniques.
